First Day of School
Yesterday, August 27, 2009 was Jackson's first day of First Grade at Riverview Elementary School in Stow. We went to "Meet the Teacher Night" on tuesday evening to visit his school and meet his teacher Mrs. Englewood. Jackson said he thought she looked like a very nice teacher and seemed to be excited to go to school the next day. He has a few friends in his class that were in his class last year at Kathy's pre-school so that is definitely helping his courage. As it turns out his first day was a success, he even got to ride in a big yellow school bus, go outside for 2 recesses and he says his teacher looks like Aunt Tara. To quote him directly he says "Mrs. Englewood has the same eyes as Aunt Tara". Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come from First grade. Ryan is starting his second year at Miss Kathy's and was a little upset that he wasn't getting to go with his big brother to a new school but once he learned that he is in the same class as his buddy Decker I think he forgot all about going with Jackson.

Bristol 2009
Mary Kay and I went to the Bristol race last weekend. It was the last official trip for my old truck. It performed beautifully and so did the old camper - except for a small leak around 4am friday night. As you can see by the tarps we were expecting some rain. Atleast both wheels stayed on this time! We stayed at our favorite spot again - Farmer Bob's, which has always treated us well. We also entered into our first cornhole tournament. We thought they were taking good care of us when we noticed we were paired up against the only other male/female couple until we learned that she was the #1 female player in the country and he was like #8 or so. We ended up holding our own though, and only lost 21-8 to the Corn Dogs. We did win our next game so that was nice but we didn't last much longer. Now we have the cornhole tournament craze so maybe we'll be getting into another one soon.

Rascal Flatts Concert

Mary Kay and I went to the August 7th Rascal Flatts Concert at Blossom Music Center with Darik and Kristen Warnke. Since Darik is good friends with Gary's brother we had awesome seats and got to go backstage after the concert and hang out with the band. We spent about 3 hours hanging out in a small room under the stage with the band, Darious Rucker and a few other friends, family. What an amazing time. These guys are all pretty nice guys. We talked about hunting and fishing, Jay played the guitar a little bit and Darious sang a song or to. A few of the memorable moments while we were talking with them consisted of Darius walking in an introducing himself to MK and I and then later he named Kristen's baby for her. I also asked Gary about bow fishing and he told us all about it and then later on while i was going to the bathroon he walked in and opened the stall I was in and slapped me on the bu**. One last thing is make sure you check out the Ohio State guitar in the pictures.
